The federal, state and EU governments provide billions of euros in subsidies every year. Small and medium-sized enterprises (<500 employees) are particularly encouraged.
The most important funding programs in innovation funding are innovation vouchers (e.g. innovation voucher Bavaria or also Baden Württemberg, BMWi innovation vouchers via go-inno), the Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM funding program) as well as numerous topic-specific funding programs of the federal governments and the EU (e.g. Horizon Europe).
